Examination on the Second Commandment
About This Prayer
Examination on the Second Commandment: 'Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain.' This forbids blasphemy, cursing, perjury, and irreverent speech while commanding reverence for the holy Name. The Divine Praises, traditionally recited during Benediction, are included as reparation for violations.
