Antiphona ad Magnificat (II Vesperis)

From Luke 1:45, Elizabeth's second blessing: 'Beata quae credidisti, quoniam perficientur ea quae dicta sunt tibi a Domino' (blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord). Mary's faith is the foundation of her blessedness: she believed Gabriel's impossible promise. The future 'perficientur' (shall be accomplished) indicates that faith precedes fulfillment. At Second Vespers, this antiphon closes the feast by returning to the Visitation's central theme: faith that receives the Word and carries it to others.
