DIVINUM OFFICIUM Responsory

Responsorium IX - Nocturn III

Third Sunday of Lent, Nocturn III, Responsory 3 - Gloria Patri omitted in Lent

About This Prayer

This responsory for the Third Sunday of Lent draws from Isaiah 6:3 and 1 John 5:7: 'Two seraphim cried one to another: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Sabaoth; the whole earth is full of his glory. Three bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.' This Trinitarian responsory appears unexpectedly in Lent, reminding the faithful that the Paschal mystery reveals the Trinity.
