Compline of Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday before Vigil: Special collect anticipating Resurrection. No Marian antiphon. Those attending Vigil do not say Compline.
About This Prayer
This rubrical direction for Holy Saturday Compline notes that only those not attending the Paschal Vigil say Compline. The collect anticipates the Resurrection: 'Grant that we who anticipate the resurrection of thy Son with pious expectation may obtain the glory of the same resurrection.' Holy Saturday is the day of silent waiting between death and resurrection.
