Station VII — Jesus Falls the Second Time

Station VII: Jesus falls the second time. This fall 'renewed the wounds of His head and members.' By the merits of this new fall, St. Alphonsus asks for the grace to persevere in good until death - addressing the temptation to tepidity and relapse.

STATIO VII — Iesus cadit secunda vice
Considera secundum casum Iesu sub Cruce. Hic casus renovavit dolores capitis et membrorum Redemptoris nostri. Homines continuaverunt eum verberare et pedibus calcare.
Iesu mi mitissime, quoties me per inspirationes tuas excitasti, et quoties propter tepiditatem meam cecidi! Per merita huius novi casus, da mihi gratiam ut in bono perseverem usque ad mortem.
Amo te, Iesu mi, super omnia, et ex toto corde me poenitet quod offenderim te. Numquam permittas ut iterum a te separar. Da ut semper te amem, et postea fac de me quidquid tibi placuerit.

R. Because by Thy holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
STATION VII — Jesus Falls the Second Time
Consider the second fall of Jesus under the Cross. This fall renewed the wounds of His head and members. Men continued to strike Him and trample upon Him with their feet.
My most gentle Jesus, how many times Thou hast aroused me by Thy inspirations, and how many times I have fallen through my tepidity! By the merits of this new fall, grant me the grace to persevere in good until death.
I love Thee, my Jesus, above all things; I repent with my whole heart of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.
