Examination on the Fifth Commandment: 'Thou shalt not kill.' This forbids murder, abortion, euthanasia, suicide, hatred, and scandal - sins that injure body or soul. Christ warned that it would be better to have a millstone tied around one's neck than to scandalize the little ones (Matthew 18:6).

Have I killed or seriously injured anyone?
Have I procured, advised, or consented to abortion?
Have I deliberately endangered my life or that of others?
Have I attempted or seriously thought of suicide?
Have I wished evil, injury, or death upon another?
Have I harboured hatred, anger, or a desire for revenge?
Have I refused to forgive others?
Have I given scandal or led others into sin?
Have I injured the soul of another by evil counsel, example, or neglect?
Prayer of St. Francis:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.
