ACTVS CARITATIS
Act of Charity
About This Prayer
The Act of Charity is the highest of the three theological acts, for St. Paul teaches that without charity, even faith profits nothing (1 Corinthians 13). The prayer expresses love of God above all things for His own sake, and love of neighbor as oneself for God's sake. Source: Catechismus Romanus.

CONTEXT
St. Paul teaches that without charity, even faith that moves mountains profits nothing (1 Cor 13). An act of perfect charity, like perfect contrition, can remit mortal sin when joined with the desire to confess.
