Capitulum (Advent I)
Rom. 13:12. Proper chapter for Sext on Advent I Sunday.
About This Prayer
Romans 13:12 continues the Advent I Epistle's imagery at Sext (noon, the sixth hour). "Nox praecessit, dies autem appropinquavit" (The night is passed, the day is at hand) gains particular force at midday when light is fullest. The command to "put on the armor of light" (induamur arma lucis) connects Advent's spiritual combat to the Pauline militia Christi tradition.
