Queenship of Mary - Collect (May 31)

About This Prayer

This collect, composed for the feast's institution by Pius XII (1954), petitions for 'pacem in praesenti et gloriam in futuro' (peace in this life and glory in the future). The Queenship feast was established in the Marian Year to crown the Church's teaching on Mary's royal prerogatives. The phrase 'ejus muniti praesidio' (protected by her patronage) echoes Carmel's collect, employing the same military imagery of queenly protection. Peace and glory form the complete Christian hope: tranquility now, beatitude hereafter.
