Responsorium VIII - Nocturn III
Fourth Sunday of Lent (Laetare), Nocturn III, Responsory 2
About This Prayer
This responsory for Laetare Sunday draws from John 6:57-58: 'The living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me.' The Bread of Life discourse connects the multiplication of loaves to the Eucharist. On Laetare Sunday, this responsory anticipates the Paschal banquet and the restoration of Communion after Lenten fasting.
