The eighth responsory of Epiphany Matins follows the star: 'The star which the Magi had seen in the East went before them, until it came and stood over where the child was.' The miraculous star, moving and stopping, guides the Gentile seekers to the Jewish Messiah, symbolizing divine providence leading all nations to Christ.
