DIVINUM OFFICIUM Antiphon

Antiphona ad Benedictus - Feria II Paschae

Feria II infra Octavam Paschae (Easter Monday) - Lauds Benedictus

About This Prayer

The Benedictus antiphon for Easter Monday, recounting the Emmaus narrative (Luke 24:15-25). Christ draws near to the disciples but remains unrecognized until the breaking of bread. This antiphon connects Lauds, the hour of dawn and resurrection, with Christ's revelation in the Eucharist, emphasizing how the Risen Lord still walks incognito with His Church.

Prayer Text

LATINE
ENGLISH
Jesus himself drew near to his disciples, and went with them: but their eyes were held, that they should not know him: and he rebuked them, saying: O foolish, and slow of heart to believe in all things which the prophets have spoken, alleluia.
