DIVINUM OFFICIUM Prayer

Oratio

Common of Virgin Martyrs - Collect

About This Prayer

This collect begins with striking theology: 'etiam in sexu fragili victoriam martyrii contulisti' (thou hast granted even to the weaker sex the victory of martyrdom). This reflects ancient anthropology while marveling at grace overcoming nature's limitations. The 'miracula potentiae tuae' (wonders of thy power) frame female martyrdom as divine intervention, not merely human courage. The petition asks that commemorating this virgin martyr will lead us to her - the feast becomes a road to heaven through her example and intercession.
