Antiphona 1

Matthew 25:21 provides this antiphon from the Parable of the Talents, Christ's teaching on faithful stewardship. The word 'Euge' (Well done!) is an exclamation of approval, the master's recognition of faithful service. The contrast between 'pauca' (few things) and 'multa' (many things) reveals the divine economy: small fidelities in time are rewarded with vast responsibilities in eternity. The future tense 'constituam' (I will set you) points to the eschatological reward. At Vespers, as the workday ends, this antiphon promises that faithful labor will not go unrewarded at the Master's final accounting.
