Ephesians 2:19 employs citizenship language to describe conversion: 'hospites et advenae' (strangers and sojourners) become 'cives Sanctorum' (fellow citizens with the saints). Paul addresses Gentile converts who previously had 'no part in the covenants of promise' (Eph 2:12). The term 'domestici Dei' (household members of God) intensifies the intimacy beyond mere citizenship to family belonging. Read at Terce (the third hour when the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost), this text recalls that the Spirit's coming created one household from Jew and Gentile through apostolic preaching.
