Capitulum
Common of Apostles - None Chapter from Ephesians 2:21
About This Prayer
Ephesians 2:21 completes the architectural sequence: 'omnis aedificatio constructa crescit in templum sanctum' (the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple). The present tense 'crescit' (grows) indicates the Church is not a static monument but a living organism still under construction until the Parousia. Read at None (the ninth hour when Christ died), this text proclaims that from the moment of His death, the old Temple's function passed to His Body the Church, built upon apostolic witness and growing toward eschatological completion.
