Antiphona 3
Christ the King - Lauds
About This Prayer
From Psalm 71:11, this antiphon extends Christ's kingship universally: 'Adorabunt eum omnes reges terrae' (all kings of the earth shall adore him). The verb 'adorabunt' (shall adore) indicates not mere acknowledgment but worship - earthly rulers must render latria to the King of kings. The parallel clause 'omnes gentes servient ei' (all nations shall serve him) indicates the collective as well as individual submission required. This antiphon directly addresses the modern heresy of religious neutrality in public life: not only individuals but nations and their rulers owe Christ homage. The future tense ('adorabunt', 'servient') carries both prophetic certainty and implicit exhortation.
