About This Prayer
From December 17 onward (during the O Antiphon days), the Invitatory shifts from "Regem venturum" to "Prope est jam Dominus" (The Lord is nigh at hand). This change marks the transition from distant expectation to imminent arrival. The liturgy's tempo accelerates: the King who was "coming" is now "at hand." This invitatory accompanies the final week of Advent's heightened anticipation.
