DIVINUM OFFICIUM Antiphon

Antiphona ad Benedictus

December 22 - Lauds Benedictus Antiphon

About This Prayer

December 22's Benedictus antiphon dramatizes Mary and Gabriel's dialogue (Luke 1:34-35): the virgin's question and the angel's answer about the Holy Spirit's overshadowing. This same text appears at Ember Saturday, showing thematic unity. O Rex Gentium (King of the Nations, Cornerstone) crowns this day's Vespers.
